Design West Engineering continues to make strategic investments to strengthen the firm’s technical expertise while evolving internal processes and approaches to support project success.
We’re excited to welcome Viraj Patel as our new Director of Mechanical, based in San Bernardino, CA. Viraj brings over 14 years of MEP engineering experience, having led HVAC design for landmark projects like the LAX Tom Bradley International Terminal (TBIT) Core Expansion and the Intuit Dome, the NBA’s first fully electric arena and new home of the LA Clippers.
With a client-first mindset and a passion for innovation, Viraj will focus on client care, business development, internal mentorship, technology integration, and AI-driven design automation—including his vision for “DWEGPT,” a forward-thinking approach to design powered by artificial intelligence.
When you work with Viraj, you can expect a partnership grounded in his personal motto:
“We only exist to ensure our clients succeed—anytime, anywhere, and anything for our clients.”
To strengthen support for both our internal teams and clients, DWE has welcomed two new project managers: Alex Hunt and Ernesto Valerio. Alex Hunt, an Electrical Design Engineer with six years of experience at the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, holds a degree from Washington State University and brings specialized expertise in hydropower renovations, military facilities, arc flash analysis, and a range of civil projects across the Northwest. Ernesto Valerio, who studied Networking and Telecommunications at Mt. San Jacinto Community College, brings deep expertise in technology and holds multiple ICT BICSI certifications, including RCDD, RTPM, OSP, and INSTC.
