Since joining Design West Engineering in 2015, Kellen Martinez has built a reputation for turning complex fire protection challenges into well-coordinated, high-performing systems. Now promoted to Director of Fire Protection, he brings deep expertise in NFPA 13 and 24 sprinkler design, hydraulic calculations, and utility coordination, paired with extensive BIM experience in Revit and NavisWorks. Kellen’s leadership inspires DWE’s fire protection team to think creatively and find innovative ways to integrate complex systems within constrained spaces.
Darrell Johnson began his career at Design West Engineering in 2016 as an intern and has grown into the firm’s Director of Commissioning. Darrell leads commissioning efforts for educational, medical, and commercial facilities, ensuring systems perform as designed and meet client expectations. Known for his analytical mindset and hands-on approach, he excels at identifying root causes and implementing targeted, practical solutions. His leadership continues to strengthen DWE’s commitment to quality, performance, and innovation.
