About the Project

The San Bernardino City Unified School District (SBCUSD) Welcoming Resource Center is a three-story, 59,300 SF tenant improvement project with an additional 4,200 SF deck. The facility includes administrative offices, meeting and community spaces, and a clinic with dental exam rooms, along with new outdoor event areas, plazas, parking, and on-site solar and battery storage.

The project included a VRF mechanical system with full air distribution and piping throughout the three‑story Welcoming Resource Center, supplemented by rooftop heat pump units serving the clinic and other critical spaces, all integrated with the District’s standard energy management system. Plumbing design encompassed domestic water, waste, and vent systems for all program areas, along with a water booster pump and a dedicated dental vacuum system. Electrical scope covered building‑wide power distribution, T24‑compliant lighting and controls, photometric and energy calculations, and equipment power connections. Technology infrastructure included conduit pathways for voice/data, security, CCTV, access control, and A/V systems to support District‑furnished equipment and cabling. Site improvements provided an event plaza, stage, parking, bike storage, solar array, battery storage, and a service yard, while the fire alarm system was delivered as a deferred submittal design.
