In celebration of Earth Day 2022, the Design West team spent some time outside in our communities to cultivate a cleaner and safer environment. Our commitment to building our own personal communities makes it natural to take time away from our desks to join local partners and make where we live a better place.
Fontana, California
Our first location was the Fontana Unified School District. We purchased soil, seeds, and Dixie cups for 347 students at Hemlock Elementary School. Four of our team members, Shannon Stewart, Jason Quintanilla, Kellen Martinez, and Troy Black helped students prepare the cups and fill them with soil and wildflower seeds. Each student received planting instructions so that they could head home and plant the flowers.
San Bernardino County
17 Design West team members joined together with Supervisor Joe Baca Jr., San Bernardino County, to clean up the Bloomington and Muscoy communities. We joined with over 350 volunteers and community partners to clean up each unincorporated area. Tons of trash was taken care of and we left the place so much cleaner.
“This year’s community clean up event was more than a success. Seeing so many people go out of their way and volunteer to help clean up both Muscoy and Bloomington was touching.” -Supervisor Joe Baca, Jr.
Edmonds, Washington
Five members of our Pacific Northwest office joined with the community in Edmonds to clean up North Park Beach. Cleaning up the litter while enjoying the Edmonds marine sanctuary was a pretty good day.
Let’s treat everyday like Earth day and keep our communities safe and clean!
