As Design West Engineering approaches its 25th anniversary in 2025, we are excited to announce that Steven Johnson, Leo Maya, and Jeremy Richard have joined Mark Galle and Rob Cronk in ownership of the firm. A significant expansion of our leadership team, Steven, Leo, and Jeremy’s promotion to principal marks DWE’s growth and the firm’s investment for the future.
Founded in January 2000 by Rob Cronk and Mark Galle, Design West was built on a simple yet powerful idea: prioritize customer service above all. Over the years, this focus has driven our success, allowing us to become a leading multi-discipline engineering firm on the West Coast. Our dedication to client relationships, technical excellence, outstanding communication, and innovative technology have been the cornerstone of our achievements.
Steven Johnson, PE has been with Design West since 2002 and directs the Mechanical and Plumbing Department. His leadership and technical expertise have been instrumental in ensuring the high-quality design and service that our clients have come to expect. Steven oversees various teams and divisions, from mechanical and plumbing to fire sprinkler design and BIM. His hands-on experience overseeing DWE’s flagship services will inform his elevated leadership role in identifying operational efficiencies and process improvements.
Leo Maya, PE, LEED AP BD+C who joined us in 2005, brings over 25 years of design and project management experience to the team. As the head of Electrical Production since 2009, Leo has led projects ranging from large commercial buildings to specialized electrical and lighting designs. Always pushing forward-thinking design and up-to-date technologies, his commitment to client relationships and deep technical knowledge makes him an invaluable asset to our leadership team.
Jeremy Richard, CPSM has been with Design West Engineering since 2007 and now steps into his new role as Principal. During his tenure as DWE’s Director of Business Development, Jeremy has been instrumental in shaping the firm’s strategy, vision, and culture. His thoughtful approach to all interactions personifies DWE’s core values of service and client care resulting in partnerships and connections across market sectors taking the firm to new heights. Jeremy’s dedication to client relationships and strategic growth will continue to strengthen Design West Engineering as we move into the future.
