Design West Engineering transformed the former Fender Museum into a community center. We provided MEP design services, ensuring compliance and meeting budget constraints. The center features a gym, banquet room, classrooms, offices, and more.

The former Fender Museum was converted into a 33,000 square foot intergenerational community center to offer a long sought-after public gathering area for the surrounding community.
The former warehouse space was converted into a gymnasium with regulation-size basketball and volleyball courts, and includes a new banquet room with warming kitchen to accommodate up to 450 guests. The facility also includes two 2,500 sf fitness rooms on an upper level which can be combined into a single space, along with multiple classrooms, music rooms, offices and additional support space. There is also an outdoor amphitheater and full-sized bar.
Design West Engineering served on the design team for all mechanical, electrical and plumbing throughout the building, which included meeting new code compliance regulations. Budget constraints posed a challenge as the renovation cost was roughly $75/sf; however, through close collaboration and value engineering, we were able to meet the City’s wish list within budget.
