About the Project

The Orange Coast College (OCC) Student Housing Construction project stands as a pioneering endeavor, marking a significant milestone as the first and only community college in California to offer on-campus student housing. Executed through a Public Private Partnership (P3) without any reliance on public funds, this project exemplifies a harmonious fusion of innovation, collaboration, and excellence in meeting the evolving needs of the OCC student community.

Encompassing a sprawling area of 600,000 square feet, the development comprises seven interconnected buildings, each towering four floors high. These structures encapsulate a dynamic blend of modernity and functionality, housing a total of 323 units ranging from single-bedroom dwellings to expansive 4-bedroom/2-bathroom configurations. Alongside these living quarters, the complex integrates 16,033 square feet of assignable non-residential space, meticulously designed to cater to the diverse needs of students.

Within this expansive complex, students find themselves enveloped in a vibrant ecosystem designed to foster connectivity and holistic growth. Offices, leasing areas, and common lounges serve as hubs for interaction and collaboration, while community and meeting spaces provide platforms for intellectual exchange and collective engagement. The inclusion of amenities such as a community kitchen, laundry facilities, and maintenance support areas further enhances the quality of student life, promoting convenience and well-being.

Notably, the OCC Student Housing Construction project is underpinned by a commitment to excellence in design and construction, with every aspect meticulously crafted to prioritize functionality, safety, and community engagement. Design West Engineering played a pivotal role in this endeavor, providing comprehensive mechanical, plumbing, and electrical design services, alongside diligent construction administration.
