Carlsbad, CA
The Leo Carrillo Ranch Historic Park is a designated Historic National Landmark that preserves the former working ranch, once owned by actor Leo Carrillo. The 27-acre site is now owned and operated by the City of Carlsbad serving as destination for many special events such as weddings and has also been tied into to citywide trails system. Design West Engineering was retained to provide MEP services at this Historic Park Facility to complete Phase 3 of the Leo Carrillo Ranch Park Master Plan. This phase included restoration of the historic stable building including installation of new lighting and security systems alongside other concrete and structural upgrades taking place. Also in this phase was the reconstruction of the chicken coop building to become a new public restroom facility equipped with modern plumbing and a janitorial storage area. The new facility stood in the place of the former dilapidated chicken coop and was designed to replicate the original façade based on historical photographs. Working hard to ensure that MEP systems maintained and complimented the historical integrity of these facilities was paramount to Design West.
